The Host
A very striking man our Host withal,
And fit to be a marshall in a hall.
His eyes were bright, his girth a little wide;
There is no finer burgess in Cheapside.
Bold in his speech, yet wise and full of tact,
There was no manly attribute he lacked.
The Host is given a quite different pose by our specialist ceramicist and modeller Tony Bennett. Like The Knight he is slightly a larger figure than some.
Clearly expansively pleased to have so many customers at his Tabard Inn, he is the instigator of the Canterbury Tales stories and this is reflected in his jolly face and outstretched arms.
