Rye Pottery’s Mrs Maria Fitzherbert, the secret, and at the time illegal, Roman Catholic wife of the Prince Regent who later became King George IV.
Inspired by images from the renowned Rowlandson cartoon, our figures depicting Mrs Fitzherbert and the Prince Regent were originally commissioned for the Brighton Pavilion,
These are two of our most colourful pieces and we’re particularly pleased to be able to celebrate this extravagant, controversial but important artistic patron and his partner who both have such strong connections with Sussex.
